Injury Prevention and Concussion Protocol

How we reduce the normal risk of physical activity, and what happens if a child is injured or shows signs of a possible concussion.

This policy is written and in effect as TRUETH practice. Formal board adoption and counsel review are in progress.

TRUETH Jin Sun Do is not a medical service. This protocol describes our program's safety practices; it does not replace evaluation or treatment by a qualified medical provider. See our Disclaimers.

Prevention

  • Sessions are led by instructors trained in the TRUETH Jin Sun Do curriculum, with movements structured for the age and ability of the group.
  • Instructors watch for signs of fatigue, distress, or overexertion and adjust or pause activity accordingly.
  • Training spaces are set up to reduce fall and collision risk before a session begins.

If a minor injury happens

Instructors provide basic first aid, document what happened, and notify the parent or guardian the same day.

Possible concussion

If a child takes a blow to the head or shows any sign of a possible concussion, such as confusion, dizziness, headache, or nausea, the child is immediately removed from activity and does not return to the session that day.

  • We notify the parent or guardian right away and recommend evaluation by a medical provider.
  • A child does not return to TRUETH Jin Sun Do sessions after a possible concussion until a parent or guardian confirms clearance from a medical provider.

Washington youth sports context

Washington State has youth sports concussion-safety requirements, generally known as the Zackery Lystedt Law, that govern removal from play and return-to-play clearance for youth athletic activities. We aim to operate consistently with that general framework as it applies to a program like ours; families with specific legal questions should consult the current state guidance or an attorney.

Emergencies

For any serious injury, we call 911 immediately and notify the parent or guardian promptly after the child is safe.

Status

This protocol reflects TRUETH's current safety practice. Formal board adoption of the written policy is in progress.
