For families
What to expect
A plain walk through a first visit, a first session, and the first few weeks.
Before the first session
We start with a conversation, not a form. We want to know what your child is like on a good day and a hard day, what sets them off, what settles them, and what you have already tried.
The first session
Your child will not be asked to perform. The first session is about the room being safe and predictable: where things are, what happens when, and what is expected. Children who need to move are allowed to move.
Parents are welcome to observe. Some children do better knowing you are there. Some do better knowing you are not watching. Both are normal and we will work with whichever is true.
The first few weeks
Expect unevenness. A strong session followed by a hard one is not a sign that this is not working. What we watch for over time is the child reaching for the breathing on their own, outside the room.
If your child refuses to come back, tell us why. That information is useful and we would rather adjust than lose them.
