Your first visit

TRUETH explainer: Your first visit
Your first visit starts with a conversation about what helps your child and what does not. A diagnosis is not required to begin. You can use the short form or call. We ask for an age range, without asking for your child's name or medical details on the form. Your child can watch from the side of the mat. Watching is enough for a first visit. The first session is about a safe, predictable room. We talk about cost after you know the class is right. Scholarships come first. Ask us about how classes run before your child starts.

Start with a conversationUse the short form or call. We ask for an age range and what is hard right now. We never ask for a diagnosis to begin.
A real conversation of fifteen or twenty minutes about what helps your child and what does not.
Your child can watch from the side of the mat. Many do on the first visit, and that is enough.
We talk about cost after you know the class is right. Scholarships come first.
Ask us anything about how classes run before your child starts.
The belt path
The belt system gives children a clear next step and a record of what they have mastered. Each belt asks for new movement, steadier breath and more control.
Master Kim teaches the history, etiquette and principle of a movement before the technique. In his classes, higher-rank students have shown what they understand by writing a storybook, composing a song or designing a game about what they learned.
Belts mark skill, never diagnosis. A child moves at their own pace, and belts are earned in person, on the mat.
A way of life
TRUETH teaches martial arts the way they began: as a way of life. Master Kim's rule for any class is that it must educate, motivate and be fun. Miss one and the practice weakens.
We do not compete with other schools or chase tournaments. We keep the art authentic, and we say what we do and do what we say.
The Warrior Ceremony
Every cohort ends with the Warrior Ceremony. Grand Master Won Kuk Kim presents each child with their warrior belt in front of their family and community.

Past and future
Grand Master Won Kuk Kim is the son of Supreme Grandmaster Bok Man Kim, one of the founding originators of Taekwondo in Korea, as TRUETH's mission statement records. Master Kim has practiced martial arts for more than sixty years and has spent more than thirty of them teaching neurodivergent children in Greater Seattle.
He studied ten disciplines, Hapkido, Aikido, Kenpo, Taekwondo, Karate, Thai Boxing, Kung Fu, Judo, Ninjutsu and Gumdo, and treated them like branches of one tree. He followed each branch back to the root they share: breath, movement and the alignment of mind and body. TRUETH Jin Sun Do is that root, written down and taught to children.
Every TRUETH student joins that line. Instructors Master Kim certifies carry it forward, and the children they teach carry it after them.
A note on names: Grand Master Won Kuk Kim is a different person from Lee Won Kuk, the founder of Chung Do Kwan.
