Things you can use at home, whether or not your child ever enrolls with us.

Some of what helps does not require us. If your family never becomes a TRUETH family, we would still rather you have something that works.

At home, between sessions

  • Keep the same start and end structure for a hard activity, so the shape of it is predictable even when the content is not
  • Practice the breathing when your child is calm, not only when they are escalating, so it is a familiar tool rather than a correction
  • Name the feeling before solving the problem
  • Protect one thing your child is genuinely good at, especially in a week where most feedback has been about what went wrong

If you are in crisis right now

If a child is in immediate danger, call 911. For mental health crisis support in the United States, call or text 988 for the Suicide and Crisis Lifeline. TRUETH is not a crisis service.
